Historic Door Restoration
Our historic Victorian era front door was badly in need of restoration. Its finish was worn, dings and scratches marred its surface, and its ornate decorative features lacked definition. Mark completed the restoration in his workshop, where the door was stripped and refinished, surface damage repaired, and detail returned to its moldings and carvings. The result is a beautiful example of circa 1900 millwork which perfectly complements the style of the house.

Given the amount of detail work required, we allowed several weeks for the completion of the project. In fact, the restoration was completed in just over two weeks.

The quality of the work exceeded our expectations. After over a century, the door has been returned to its former glory. Especially important to the outcome was the careful attention paid to its distinctive period features.

The final invoice exactly matched the original quote. The excellent workmanship qualified the project for a Historic Preservation Grant, which substantially reduced our actual cost.
